Inspirational Wedding Ideas | You’ll Love This Hidden Forest Wedding
Fairytales can come true and this mystical hidden forest wedding is proof of that..
When you are planning a wedding you may be confronted with two opposing feelings, that there are too many and yet only so many themes for your big day. Yes there do seem to be some wedding theme big hitters out there that we see a lot, but the magic that we find is when someone is able to break those themes down and build them back up into a completely unique event that perfectly fits a couple.
DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT
In the height of the micro wedding trend, who isn’t daydreaming about an intimate celebration with a more relaxed vibe, offering the freedom to think outside the box and the flexibility to use creative ideas to make it more special? Micro weddings were already on the rise before the COVID-19 pandemic and now most of us prefer to do this wedding occasion to stay safe during this crisis and to be creative in a very unique way. No tight schedules, no huge guest numbers, no formalities and with the option to make the day totally memorable.
Seeing this big hitter wedding trend everywhere lately, I wanted to style a micro wedding but from the very beginning it was important to me to design and style a completely special event. I wanted the vibe of this wedding to stand out and be conceptual in a way you don’t see much, or maybe have never seen yet at all.
This alternative wedding theme proposal is really for the bride looking to do something different. Taking an idea and using an “in” trend in a unique way by pulling it apart a little bit and changing it into a version that fits you, is where creativity comes in and that’s the fun part.
THE MAGICAL LOCATION
Our dreamy wedding location is seriously a hidden gem. Located in the north suburbs of Athens, I’m convinced that even only a few locals know about it. At first glance it looks like just a simple forest area, but when you walk back through the hidden trails, you’ll find the open clearing and IT IS MAGICAL. Quiet, tranquil, and mysterious, it was the perfect place to create an enchanted hidden forest feeling.
PLANNING FOR A FEELING
I wanted deep rich colors, natural lighting, and a change up from the typical Victorian style setting you usually see this sort of design in. I wanted it to be moody with a feeling of enchantment. Instead of a traditional venue, we ventured out into a hidden forest and created the magic there.
For me, I love to design a “look” but oftentimes that look is inspired by a feeling. In this case, I imagined a sentimental micro wedding where the couple would exchange their vows in the enchanted woods, away from the world, celebrating a love that only a few understand. I pictured the Bride waiting for her groom in a hidden location, admiring the small details of her wedding day, and being married in an intimate setting where everything stops and their love is the only thing that matters.
FINDING JUST THE RIGHT CREW
I contacted Maria Lazaridi (Photographer) and Christina Ava (Videographer), owner of Lulumeli, to collaborate on this project and they loved the idea of setting up a shoot in the woods. Their work is to die for and I knew they would capture the true essence of the feeling I wanted to create.
Even though March is one of the most busy months for wedding vendors as we are all in preparation for the wedding season to come, and despite the fact that we were facing serious limitations due to Covid pandemic, every single vendor I contacted was more than happy to participate in my project. It was so awesome to work with all of them!
Renata Marmara trusted us with a stunning gown perfectly fitted to our concept, while Katerina Savrani offered to this project the WOW factor through the unique handmade shoes & headpiece from her collection. All amazing jewellery from Chrisemporiki added the glam and grace inspiration I longed for this wedding theme and the handmade paper stationery by Paper Blossom came to shield this inspirational wedding idea perfectly!
The elements that really tied everything together were the unique pieces from Zetas Workshop (she has a serious eye for vintage decor and great sensitivity to beauty), and of course our make-up artist Eirini Pappa who transformed our bride to a fairytale princess.
Last but not least, me and my dream team at For Good Times, apart from designing and planning this inspirational wedding shoot, also arranged all styling details, the centerpieces and bridal bouquet that fitted as if they came from those very woods which kept that organic earthy feel that we were going for.
